A man faces multiple charges after police say he was found with a knife on Thursday at a Columbia bank.

Jonathan Travis Carpenter, 40, is charged with second-degree making a terroristic threat and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $5,000 bond. An initial court appearance was held Tuesday at the Boone County Courthouse.

Carpenter was at Commerce Bank on East Broadway Street. He had a large, visible knife on his side, according to the probable cause statement. The bank does not allow weapons on the property. He was allegedly told to leave, but refused.

Police arrived and placed Carpenter under arrest. About 10 employees were gathered together at the north entrance of the bank.
