JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City woman is facing several charges after deputies say she broke into a residence and attacked her boyfriend with a knife.

Tiffany Harris, 32, is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, armed-criminal action and three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Harris is held in the Cole County Jail without bond.

An arraignment was held Monday at the Cole County Circuit Court. A withdrawal of attorney was filed.

Cole County Sheriff’s Office deputies on early Saturday arrived to a residence in the 5600 block of Ravenwood Drive. Harris allegedly forced her way through the front door of an apartment and attacked her boyfriend with a box knife, according to the probable cause statement. Deputies said the alleged victim was trying to physically subdue Harris when they arrived.

The victim allegedly told deputies that he and Harris were previously in a relationship and had a child together. Harris allegedly called the victim and asked for a ride from a “social gathering” and he refused. He then fell asleep on the couch and woke up to Harris trying to break down the door, according to the probable cause statement. He claimed Harris pulled out a box knife and started slashing him.

The probable cause statement says the victim’s physical appearance was consistent with his version of events.

A witness told law enforcement they saw Harris break down the door and attack the alleged victim, according to the statement.

Deputies learned there were children at Harris’ residence without adult care. Three children, ages 1, 5 and 11, were found at her home alone by Jefferson City police, according to the probable cause statement. It is unknown how long they were left without adult supervision.
