A Columbia woman has been charged with attempted murder and other charges after the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office says she tried to stab children on Thursday.

Jennifer Fangmann, 41, is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree domestic assault, two counts of attempted abuse of a child, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and armed-criminal action. She was arrested Tuesday and is being held at the Cooper County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Cooper County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of the 101-mile marker on Interstate 70 for a possible domestic disturbance in progress.

When deputies arrived, they found a man and two children on the roadside. Those three and Fangmann were traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 in a vehicle when she allegedly grabbed a knife and tried to stab the children with a knife, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man stopped Fangmann from assaulting the children. He stopped the vehicle and got out of the car with the children. Fangmann then took off in the vehicle.
