Two arrested after Boone County traffic stop; stolen mail found

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two people with outstanding warrants during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

A department official pulled over a vehicle with expired played near the Clark Lane and Interstate 70 connector in Columbia.

Mercedes Pattillo, 21, was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. During the stop, deputies developed probable cause that Pattillo was in possession of pieces of mail addressed to and from various locations throughout Boone County. 

Included in the mail were multiple checks addressed to individuals and government organizations. Pattillo initially provided a fake name to deputies, but deputies were able to determine her identity and confirmed she had active warrants for her arrest. 

Pattillo was allegedly in possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, Darian Ivy, 28 also was arrested for outstanding warrants, according to the sheriff’s department. Ivy is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $75,000 bond and $5,000 bond, according to Boone County Sheriff records.

Patillo was not listed on the Boone County Jail’s inmate roster.

Ivy has a charge for unlawful use of a firearm. A hearing or that case is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Boone County Courthouse. He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 35 grams or less. A motion for discovery was filed in that case on Nov. 17. An initial appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8.

Patillo is charged with second-degree drug trafficking and stealing. A motion was filed in that case on Tuesday. They are also charged with second-degree burglary and stealing. An initial appearance in that case is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29.
