JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who is already a prisoner at Jefferson City Correctional Center for second-degree arson faces more charges after a Missouri Department of Corrections official found a knife in his cell, according to a probable cause statement.

Devon Smith, 26, was charged with delivery or possession of a weapon in a prison.

In a separate case filed Tuesday, Smith was charged with second-degree assault, armed criminal action and violence to an employee of the Department of Corrections or to an inmate.

Smith is serving a six-year sentence for pleading guilty in 2018 to second-degree arson.
