Google upload leads to child porn charge for Boone County man
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A report from Google flagging a file uploaded on its Drive service led to a Boone County man's arrest on a child pornography charge last week.
Adam H. Ray, 43, was arrested Friday and remained in the Boone County Jail on Monday on a single possession of child pornography charge.
The investigation began when Google lodged a complaint with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a June upload of child pornography, according to a probable cause statement. The tip was relayed to the Boone County Cyber Crimes Task Force about a month later.
Investigators tied Ray's IP address, cellphone and email accounts to the upload and more than 100 other images, according to the statement. Several electronic devices were seized at Ray's home when it was searched Thursday, the statement says.
Ray's attorney, Jeffrey Hillbrenner, filed an entry of appearance on Ray's behalf Monday, according to online court records.
Ray's bond was set at $100,000 cash-only.
