Former MU golfer gets probation after invasion of privacy accusation

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A former University of Missouri golf team member was sentenced to probation Wednesday after pleading guilty in his invasion of privacy case.

YuTa Tsai pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of tampering with computer data after he was initially charged in June with misdemeanor counts of tampering with physical evidence and invasion of privacy. Tsai was sentenced in a Boone County court to two years of unsupervised probation, according to online court records. If he violates probation, his jail sentence is 90 days.

Tsai was accused of using a phone to take pictures of a woman who was using a bathroom stall next to him. The victim confronted Tsai after she saw the phone coming from underneath the stall, according to court documents.

Tsai reportedly told the woman he was sorry and that he deleted the photos from his phone. The woman told investigators Tsai asked that she not call the police.
