Man charged with murder in Camden County hit-and-run killing
CAMDENTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man suspected in a hit-and-run killing near Camdenton has been charged with murder, the Camden County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
Prosecutors charged Jordan F. Jones with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Michael Varney, 43, the sheriff's office said in a news release.
The Camden County Sheriff's Office said deputies were notified late Thursday night by the Laclede County Sheriff's Office that they had Jordan F. Jones in custody. The sheriff's office says Jones was later turned over to Camden County deputies.
Jones is accused of hitting Varney with his vehicle at Varney's home Tuesday after an argument. Witnesses say Jones left the scene after driving into Varney on Varney's front porch, according to a sheriff's office news release.
Jones is jailed at the Camden County Adult Detention Facility without bond. A court hearing is set for later this month, the sheriff's office said.
