Columbia police arrest suspect after shots-fired incident on Rock Quarry Road
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors have charged a Columbia man with four felonies after police were called to a shots-fired report Tuesday in south Columbia.
Ryan D. Osterberger, 31, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, illegal gun possession and armed criminal action after the incident in the 3800 block of Rock Quarry Road. Investigators found that Osterberger had gone into an unlocked home and was chased out by a person who lived there, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
Osterberger allegedly tried to hit the resident with a vehicle, and the resident shot at the vehicle, according to the release. Officers found the vehicle with gunshot damage but Osterberger wasn't with the vehicle, police said.
Officers were unable to find Osterberger during a search that included dogs and the CPD drone team, according to the release. But the investigation turned up information that led to his arrest early Wednesday, police say.
Osterberger was in the Boone County Jail on Wednesday without bond.
Osterberger's initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon before Judge Stephanie Morrell. He did not have a lawyer listed in online court records.
