MEXICO, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police have arrested a Mexico, Missouri man accused of shooting out windows at Audrain Community Hospital.

Officers responded to the hospital in the 600 block of East Monroe Street just after 6:20 p.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots. Police said officers found several windows were shot out near the former emergency room entrance.

Jeffrey W. Huntington, 56, turned himself in around 10:55 p.m., according to the Mexico Public Safety Department. Officers arrested Huntington on suspicion of first-degree property damage, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

Police said witnesses and video helped officers identify Huntington as the suspect.

At last check, the Audrain County Prosecutor's Office hasn't filed charges against Huntington.

Another Mexico man, Geoffrey Allen, was arrested by police last month after he was accused of breaking into the hospital. The prosecutor's office charges Allen with felony counts of second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and one misdemeanor count of stealing.

Allen has a hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. June 7.

The former operator of the hospital, Noble Health Corporation, ceased operations at the hospital and Callaway Comunity Hospital in Fulton, Missouri in late March.

A Texas-based company took over the management of both hospitals last month.
