JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sedalia man faces up to 10 years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to trying to hire an undercover agent to murder the victim in a pending statutory sodomy case.

Jon Mark Wilson, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of interstate facilities in the commission of murder for hire.

Wilson admitted that he paid $2,000 to an undercover Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent to murder his alleged victim in a separate state case. Wilson was charged in Sept. 2019 in Pettis County with two counts of felony first-degree statutory sodomy. That case is still pending.

A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after completing a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
