Police report burglary with weapon in south Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police were sent early Monday to a report of a man breaking into a south Columbia apartment and robbing the people inside with a gun.

Officers were sent at about 4:10 a.m. to the 300 block of Brookside Lane, where a man and woman told them a man they don't know broke into their apartment and demanded their cash and property, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. The burglar was about 5 feet tall and wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a mask, police said.

Investigators found evidence that shots were fired but no injuries were reported, police said.
