Boone County Sheriff’s Office says information scarce in nightclub shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Despite scores of people being inside The Vault nightclub when a Columbia man was fatally shot last month, witnesses have provided little information, the Boone County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
Junous Kelly, 24, died at a hospital after being shot in the club on St. Charles Road early May 23. The sheriff's office on Friday put out a call for witnesses to come forward.
"Evidence suggests the business had more than one hundred people inside at the time Mr. Kelly was shot and killed yet very few witnesses from inside the club have volunteered any information to investigators," the department said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
Investigators hope anyone in the club at the time of Kelly's shooting will contact the sheriff's office, according to the statement.
The sheriff's office said immediately after the shooting that deputies were outside the club dealing with a parking complaint because the parking lot was full of cars and vehicles were unable to leave. Deputies saw several people leaving the building and were told someone was shot inside. They found Kelly shot when they went inside the club.
