Local business owners say they're shocked about the deadly shooting that took place at The Vault on Clark Lane, early Sunday morning.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department responded to complaints of a crowded parking lot at The Lakeview Mall shopping center, Sunday around 2:50 a.m. Vehicles were unable to leave or enter the parking lot due to the amount of people and cars in the area.

While at the scene deputies responded to a shooting that took place inside of The Vault, where deputies found a man lying on the ground bleeding. The man was rushed to the hospital where he died. Officials later confirmed the victim was 24 year old Junous Kelley of Columbia.

Local business owner, George Godas, owner of George's Pizza and Steak, says he was devastated when he heard the news of the shooting.

Godas says he left his restaurant around 9 p.m. when they closed. He woke up to multiple phone calls of people informing him about the shooting taking place near his business. He said he turned on the news and heard about the shooting initially from there.

Godas went back to his restaurant later that morning where police officers spoke with him about the incident.

He says officers told him the parking lot was crowded with what was believed to be at least one hundred people. He said he's recently spoke with The Vault about capacity levels and recommend they keep the levels low because of the small space.

Godas says he is extremely sad to hear about someone so young losing their life. His resterautnt is a popular spot to eat for many of the younger adults and teens within the area. He says he hopes that he doesn't know the victim because it would devestate him.

Godas says his thoughts are with the victim and his family and he hopes whoever did this is brought to justice.

Police are still investigating the incident and have yet to make any arrests. They are asking if anyone has any information about this incident to contact The Boone County Sheriff's Department at 573-442-6131 or 311; or Crimestoppers at 573-875-TIPS (8477).
