Fulton police: Missing woman arrested in Illinois

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A woman who law enforcement believed may have been the victim of a kidnapping in Fulton, Missouri, has been arrested in Illinois.

According to a news release from the Fulton Police Department, Tori Taylor, 25, made contact with her family Tuesday night. It was the first known contact from Taylor since April 20.

On April 26, Fulton police responded to a possible kidnapping involving three men pulling a woman into a car in the 500 block of 10th Street. The potential victim was described as 5'3" with a thin build and short brown hair.

Later, police said Taylor was likely the kidnapping victim.

Police announced Wednesday morning that Taylor was taken into custody in Centralia, Illinois, at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday on two outstanding warrants for arrest in Missouri.

In the news release, police said multiple arrests for outstanding warrants resulted from the investigation and tips from the community. Police did not provide details about the additional arrests.

Police received information from Taylor's family that she was staying with her fathers girlfriend in Centralia, Illinois.

Online court records show that Taylor was scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2021, and failed to appear resulting in a warrant for her arrest. Records show Taylor was scheduled to appear in court on May 18, 2021, and failed to appear resulting in a second warrant for her arrest.

Chris Wilson a Callaway County prosector said Taylor waived her extradition proceedings and should appear in front of a judge in Missouri in the next few days.

Fulton Police Chief Steve Meyers said several agencies over Missouri have been working on this investigation.

"There's been thousands and thousands of hours by law enforcement not only our department but law enforcement across the state and it was very discouraging at times," Meyers said.

Meyers said he was unaware exactly how much money was put into this investigation but said several thousands of dollars were put into the efforts to bring Tori home.

Taylor has a criminal history including but not limited to felony stealing and possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
