Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant Britt Reid charged with felony DWI

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jackson County prosecutor's office has filed a felony driving while intoxicated charge against Britt Reid, former Kansas City Chiefs assitant coach and son of head coach Andy Reid.

Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Jean Peters Baker said in a news release that the charge is related to the Feb. 4 crash off Interstate 435 that left a 5-year-old girl with serious injuries, including traumatic brain injury.

Reid was allegedly driving 84 mph just before the crash on an interstate off-ramp and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.113. The legal limit for driving is 0.08. Reid's truck slammed into two vehicles on the ramp, including the one that held the 5-year-old girl.

Police have said Reid told investigators he had “two or three drinks” along with prescribed Adderall before the crash.

Reid no longer works for the Chiefs.

The prosecutor's office asked for a $10,000 bond and for GPS and alcohol monitoring if Reid posts bond.
