Woman arrested after south Columbia house fire
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Police arrested a woman on suspicion of assault, arson and burglary after an early morning fire Wednesday in south Columbia.
The Columbia Fire Department was called to the 3200 block of Timber Run Drive shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday.
ABC 17 News crews saw heavy smoke and several emergency vehicles. Police later said in a news release that Myrna Asberry, 55, was arrested and taken to the Boone County Jail on suspicion of arson, domestic assault and burglary.
Officers found a woman who claimed Asberry had assaulted her when they arrived at the house, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Police said their investigation showed the fire had been set inside the home.
Police said the woman was taken to a hospital for her injuries. The release did not give her condition.
No other details were released.
Asberry was not listed on the Boone County Jail roster Wednesday morning and charges were not available in online court records.
