Callaway County man arrested after early morning shooting incident Saturday
PORTLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)
Callaway County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a shooting near the area of Portland River Access Saturday morning at 12:39.
According to court records, a deputy responded to the Portland River Access and saw people running away from a man in a truck. The deputy drove up to the vehicle and took Wally Spencer into custody.
Several teen witnesses talked with the deupty and told him that they were scared by the incident.
One witness told the deputy that Spencer had been at the river access earlier in the night and told the teens to leave. The witness told the deputy that the teens told Spencer if "owned the land they would leave but until then they would not."
The witness said that Spencer left and returned with an AR15 and pointed it at them, then fired a into the air.
According to court documents, the deputy found an AR15 and a bolt-action rifle. The deputy determined the AR15 had been fired recent and found a used shell casing.
Spencer is charged with four counts of 4th-degree assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, DWI - aggravated and unlawful use of a weapon.
