Former Columbia Public Schools employee faces rape allegation
ROCHEPORT, Mo. (KMIZ)
A former Columbia Public Schools employee faces a felony rape allegation from a minor, according to court documents filed this week.
Boone County sheriff's deputies arrested 27-year-old Charles A. Griffin, of Rocheport on Tuesday. He faces a felony count of second-degree statutory rape.
CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said in an email Thursday Griffin no longer works for the school district. The spokeswoman included she was not allowed to comment on personnel matters.
Griffin's probable cause statement said a 15-year-old alleged the two had sex after meeting at his residence on July 4.
The child alleged meeting with Griffing four times between July and mid-August to have sex, the document said.
Investigators said Griffin confirmed he met the minor at his residence but would not answer any questions relating to the rape allegations.
Boone County Jail records said Griffin was in jail custody being held on a $50,000 bond as of Friday.
Online court documents filed on Thursday said a bond investigation from Boone County Adult Court Services recommended not to reduce Griffin's bond.
