Two teens charged in Sunday burglary in east Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two teenagers have been charged after a Sunday night burglary in east Columbia.

The Columbia Police Department said in a news release that officers arrested Daveon M. Williams, 18, and Eric J. Fincham, 18, both of Columbia, after the burglary late Sunday in the 1300 block of Teal Drive.

Police said officers were sent to the burglary call at about 11 p.m. and learned while on their way to the report that two people of interest had checked themselves into an emergency room with injuries that were not life-threatening. The two claimed they were injured about a block from the reported burglary, according to the news release.

The release did not detail the injuries or how they might be related to the crime.

Officers found a damaged window at the home, police said. They spoke with a neighbor and the homeowner, who was out of town, according to the release.

Police arrested Fincham and Williams when they were released from the emergency room.
