A Holts Summit man pleaded guilty Monday to robbing a pizza delivery driver in 2018.

Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Wilson said in a news release that Tarique Shelton admitted to arranging a pizza delivery to an abandoned home in February 2018 and robbing the driver.

Shelton's juvenile accomplice threatened the driver with what looked like a semi-automatic pistol, Wilson said. The driver gave the two about $40 and the pizza, Wilson said.

Shelton admitted his involvement to police, according to the release.

The judge sentenced Shelton to 10 years in prison and under state law he must serve 85 percent of the sentence.

Shelton is a defendant in two active criminal cases in Cole County, as well. He is accused of being one of several robbers who held up a person with a gun and a knife in north Jefferson City in January. Shelton is charged with accessory to first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in that case.

He is charged in a separate case with damaging Cole County Jail property in February.
