COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man pleaded guilty to a murder charge on Monday in connection with a 2018 killing at an apartment complex.

Erick Libimbi, 21, pleaded guilty to a count of second-degree murder . Libimbi also faced a count of drug distribution, but prosecutors have since dropped the charge.

Limbimbi and another man were charged with the death of 14-year-old Nasir Smith. Court documents say Limbimbi shot in the direction of Smith and three other individuals at the Links apartment complex after one person pulled out a gun during a drug deal.

Alex Glay, 22, was arrested after the shooting. He faces a count of second-degree murder and a felony drug charge.

Online court records say Limbimbi's sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 6. A hearing was scheduled in Glay's case for Monday, but it was rescheduled for June 8.

Online jail records say Glay was being held Tuesday on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
