COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man faces multiple charges for an alleged shooting at the West Broadway Walmart on Friday.
Columbia police officers were called to the store at 3003 West Broadway around 11:25 p.m. after Jamie Jackson, 18, apparently fired at employees and customers.
Court documents say Jackson fired six times into the store. CPD arrested Jackson at the Drury Inn at 1000 Knipp Street after the shooting.
Officers said Jackson got into an argument with a Walmart employee. A CPD press release shows the employee approached Jackson, who was in a restricted area of the store and got into an argument.
According to the release, Jackson revealed then revealed his gun and an extra magazine. Officers said the employee was able to grab the magazine away from Jackson, but not the gun.
A witness told police that Jackson took out his gun multiple times in an entrance of the store and talked about shooting Walmart staff. Police said Jackson shot into the store toward the self-checkout section near the entrance.
Jackson faces several charges for the alleged shooting. Online court records show Jackson faces a charge each of endangerment of a child, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for shooting at a building. He's currently being held in the Boone County Jail without bail.
