THURSDAY UPDATES: Roots N Blues Festival will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for entry

The Roots N Blues Festival will require either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to gain entry into the festival.

Festival officials are asking attendees to bring four things to enter:

  1. a valid government issued ID
  2. proof of vaccination
  3. or a negative covid test obtained less than 72 hours before entry is required. Children will also need a negative test for entry.
  4. attendees are recommended to get a negative test before entrance regardless of vaccination status.

For help to get entry into the festival, a vaccination event will be held on August 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Rose Music Hall parking lot at 1013 Park Ave in Columbia.

No appointment, insurance or ID is required.

All individuals vaccinated at this event will be entered to win a Columbia Live music package worth over $1,000. This includes a VIP pass to the festival and shows at Rose music Hall and The Blue Note.

The festival is on September 24 through the 26 with food and retail vendors.

Boone County reports the third straight day of under 100 new coronavirus cases

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 95 new COVID-19 cases Thursday.

There are currently 732 active cases in the county, a decrease of 9 from Wednesday. The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 21,944.

The county reported 21,084 cases removed from isolation, an increase of 106 from Wednesday.

Boone County ranks eighth in the state with the most coronavirus cases in total volume in the past week. Cases are up 4.7% on the week. The county has an 11.9% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The positivity rate is up for the previous week of July 30 through Thursday to 32.3.

The health department's hospital status remains in yellow, with 118 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals and 21 of them being Boone County residents. Of those, 41 are in intensive care and 17 are on ventilators.

Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services August 12 dashboard

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 98,487 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 86,449 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses. Boone County has the largest percentage of county residents in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 54.6%. The second closest county in the state is St. Louis County with 53.5%.

Boone County is first in the state with a reported 47.9% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Louis County is the second county in the state with 47% of residents have completed the doses for vaccination.

Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 46.6%. Montgomery County is third with 41.7%.

Cole County reports 31 new coronavirus cases

The Cole County Health Department reports 31 new coronavirus cases.

According to the dashboard update, there have been 31 new cases in the county, bringing the total to 9,851 resident cases and a total of 280 cases for long-term care facility residents. That brings a total of 10,131 total cases in the county.

The county is currently reporting 128 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic started, which is tied for the most in Mid-Missouri.

Cole County ranks 11h in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per capita in the past week. Cases are down 16.8% on the week. The county has a 16.6% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 40.4% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.

Missouri surpasses 10,000 COVID-19 deaths, hits all-time peak for ICU hospitalizations

Missouri has now surpassed 10,000 total deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic, and hit an all-time pandemic peak for ICU hospitalizations.

According to the most recent update from the state, 20 deaths were added to the dashboard overnight putting Missouri at 10,002 total COVID-19 deaths.

Back in December of last year, Missouri hit its peak for COVID-19 deaths reporting 77 new deaths in one day. Right now, Grundy county takes the lead for the most deaths per 100,000 people.

Missouri also hit an all-time peak for ICU hospitalizations. Data released Thursday morning showed on Monday there were 689 ICU patients hospitalized for COVID-19. The previous record was on Dec. 22 of last year when there were 685 ICU patients.

The latest sate profile report stated there was a 67% increase in new deaths in one week and a 12% increase in hospitalizations.
