COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri's new COVID-19 case rate fell in the most recent State Profile Report. It's the second week in a row that the rate others have fallen.

The report published on Sunday by the Biden Administration displays the same data previously used in the White House "Red Zone" Reports.

US health officials say new cases are down across Missouri. According to the data, the state reported 7,669 new coronavirus cases over the week ending on Friday. It's a decrease of 37% from the previous report.

The data said Missouri's new case rate per 100,000 residents, 125, was less than half of the national average, 263. The state positivity rate also fell 1.1% from the previous report to 8.9%.

Coronavirus deaths reported in the state were up in the new profile report. Officials reported 394 -- an increase of 78%.

Hospital stats were mostly lower from week to week with new COVID-19 hospital admissions and hospital staffing shortages down.

More than a dozen counties were dropped from the Red Zone, according to the report. Data said 33 counties were listed in the red including Callaway, Osage and Pettis in Mid-Missouri. Twenty-six counties were listed in the orange zone and 18 were included in the yellow -- an increase of eight.
