City of Columbia provides support to 49 businesses with CARES Act funding

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia has announced 49 additional businesses throughout the city and Boone County that will be supported through CARES Act funding.

Each locally owned small business will be awarded $10,000 in CARES Act funding funding. CARES Act funding will help sustain operations resulting from negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout 2020 the Housing Programs Division has allocated over $1.1 million in assistance to locally owned small businesses.

According to officials CARES Act funding in 2020 has helped 128 businesses maintain operations throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, affecting over 400 jobs supported by locally-owned small businesses. Over 70 of the 128 businesses assisted in 2020 are minority or women-owned businesses.
