JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is reporting an additional 42 COVID-19 related deaths after analyzing death certificates in the state’s disease surveillance system.

Officials say these 42 deaths will be added to Tuesday's dashboard update.

DHSS had been doing these updates on Friday causing a spike of deaths on Saturday. The department has chosen to change the updates to Mondays.

Officials report one of the 42 deaths occurred in September, and 37 occurred in October and four occurred in November.

The department would like this to be a reminder that not all deaths reported each day occurred in the previous 24 hours.
