FRIDAY UPDATES: Callaway and Randolph County each report one new COVID-19 related death

UPDATE 6:35 P.M.: Callaway County Health Department is reporting one new death, bringing the total to 10 deaths overall.

According to the health department, 101 new total cases were added and makes 1,845 total cases since March.

The department also is reporting 90 new active cases with 673 total active cases currently.

The county is only reporting 10 new recoveries making 1,162 since the pandemic started.

The Randolph County Health Department is reporting 52 new cases today. That brings the total to 1,149 cases since records were first kept.

The county is reporting 372 active cases.

The health department reports one new death, bringing the total to 11 overall.

The county has reported 766 patient recoveries.

Cole County reports record 206 new COVID-19 cases

UPDATE 5:50 P.M.: Cole County Health Department is reporting 206 new total cases and 4,402 total cases since March.

The 206 new cases is a record, the previous record was 128 on Nov. 5.

The county is reporting 702 active cases.

The county reports a total of 3,498 recoveries.

The county has a 32.91% positive PCR test rolling 7-day average. That is the highest its been since data was being collected and analyzed.

According to the dashboard, the age range of positive cases shows 62-percent between 20 and 59.

Chariton County reports first two COVID-19 related deaths

UPDATE 5:19 P.M.: The Chariton County Health Center is reporting the county's first two COVID-19 related deaths.

Health officials are reporting the addition of 20 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Chariton County. The brings the total number of cases in the county to 318.

The county currrently has 142 active cases.

The health department is reporting 17 COVID-19 cases that have been released from public health isolation. That makes the number of recovered cases to 174 overall.

CPS breaks COVID-19 14-day rate tracker, nears 100 cases

UPDATE 5:02 P.M.: Columbia Public Schools 14-day rate tracker has set a new record rate with 99.8 cases per 10,000.

The tracker reports 106 new cases in the district; the third day in a row the new cases was above 100.

The district is reporting two new teacher tested positive and 15 were considered close contacts. The district currently has 19 teachers that have COVID-19 and 117 on quarantine.

The district is reporting 43 students are positive with COVID-19 and 522 that are quarantined due to possible exposure.

Boone County passes 8,000 COVID-19 cases since March

UPDATE 4:35 P.M.: The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 132 new COVID-19 cases.

The number of active cases is now 1,176.

Due to the rise in cases, the current health order has been extended through December 8.

Since the pandemic started in March, the health department has recorded 8,071 COVID-19 cases.

The county has a reported 6,877 cases removed from isolation.

The county has reported a 140 five-day average, a slight increase from Thursday's 138 average.

Boone County is reporting a positive rate at 27.3% from Nov. 6 to Thursday.

The department is also reporting 153 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, an increase of four from Thursday.

Currently there are 45 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.

According to the numbers posted on the department's COVID-19 dashboard, 32 of the 153 patients are from Boone County.

The department reports 20 patients on ventilators.

Miller County reports 35th coronavirus related death

UPDATE 4:00 P.M.: The Miller County Health Center is reporting the 35th related COVID-19 death.

Of the 35 deaths, 24 were from long term care facilities.

Officials are reproting the county has 174 active cases in the county.

There are 1,369 total cases since March. The county has a reported 1,160 patients recoveries.

Boone Hospital Center to suspend visitors except for certain cases

UPDATE 3:45 P.M.: Boone Hospital Center has made the decision to suspend visitations at locations to protect patients, employees and providers.

Beginning Monday, Boone Hospital Center will suspend general visitation within its facilities, except for the following reasons:

  • End of life: 2 visitors with hours determined by the care team
  • Nursery & Pediatric: 2 visitors at a time, with 24-hour visitation access
    • Pediatric patient is defined as patient under 18 years of age
  • Patients with Cognitive Impairment: 1 visitor with 24-hour visitation access
  • Patients with an appointment in an outpatient setting, procedural areas or in the Emergency Department: 1 visitor

Officials at the hospital say the no visitor policy is a necessary and responsible step to protect patients and staff.

Missouri COVID-19 hospitalizations continue record-setting pace

UPDATE 10 A.M.: Missouri COVID-19 hospitalizations set and broke another record Friday morning.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported virus-related hospitalizations went up to 2,328, 80 more than Thursday's record.

According to the health department's coronavirus dashboard, more than half of all hospital beds are filled with 41% of hospital bed capacity remaining.

Nearly 700 more people have needed to be hospitalized because of coronavirus since Nov. 1, department records say.

Hospital officials in Columbia and Jefferson City asked the state to help protect healthcare workers in a letter sent out Thursday. The officials said increasing coronavirus cases has put "incredible stress on doctors, nurses, therapists, custodians, and food services and support staff who will continue to suffer additional stress and risk their own infection, illness and mortality."

Missouri added 4,005 new COVID-19 cases over the last day bringing the total to 229,376. Health officials reported 20 new COVID-19 deaths as well.

The state's positivity rate over the last week set another record on Friday going up to 42.7%, an increase of 1.9% since Thursday.

Missouri ranked 11th in the nation for new cases and deaths reported over the last week, according to the dashboard.

Columbia and Boone County leaders to announce new health order

Columbia and Boone County leaders are expected to announce a new COVID-19 health order during a community briefing at Columbia City Hall Friday afternoon.

A release from the City of Columbia said the new order will go into effect on Wednesday.

Columbia Mayor Brian Treece, Boone County Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill, University of Missouri Chancellor Mun Choi, Columbia/Boone County health department director Stephanie Browning and others will be at the meeting, the release said.

The current pandemic order was recently extended on Nov. 2.
