COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cole County Commission is set to talk about CARES Act funding at its meeting Thursday.

Cole County got roughly $9 million in federal funding to help with COVID-19 expenses and will talk about approving some requests for that money.

Jefferson City submitted 31 applications for close to $1.5 million in that funding. The city wants to use the funding for technology, safety improvements for city buildings and to cover the more than $60,000 the city incurred in COVID-19 expenses.

The Jefferson City Fire Department also submitted applications for the money. The department asked for nearly $45,000 for personal protective equipment, decontamination equipment and a comprehensive system to improve communication throughout the county.
