OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Osage Ambulance District Disaster Response Team is coming back to mid-Missouri.

The task force was deployed to New Jersey amid the COVID-19 outbreak. The state saw a surge in calls and was also experiencing staffing shortages because of the virus.

According to a Facebook post from the Osage Ambulance District, units with the Federal Emergency Management Agency ran more than 10,000 emergency calls during the deployment.

Last night, the task force ambulances traveled to the staging lot for a send-off from state emergency service providers.

They said they would be released from New Jersey this morning.

"This deployment was unlike any we have ever responded to and will forever be remembered by each team member who experienced it," the post read. "This video shows the absolute respect and appreciation we have received working side by side with local agencies assisting with higher than normal call volumes or covering for staff shortages due to Coronavirus illness."
