COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sedalia woman crashed early Wednesday when her SUV encountered flooding and went off the road, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Julie Berry, 32, was driving on Highway 87 at Don Carlos Road in Cooper County when her Toyota FJ Cruiser "encountered (a) flooded roadway" and went off the left side of the road at about 4:10 a.m., according to a patrol crash report. Berry suffered moderate injuries and an ambulance took her to University Hospital in Columbia.

Berry was the only person in the vehicle.

Storms moved through Mid-Missouri starting Tuesday and continued overnight into Wednesday. A flood warning was in effect for the Missouri River at Boonville.
