More than 2,600 without power in southwest Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

More than 2,600 Columbia utilities customers were without power in on Monday afternoon.

The city’s outage map showed 2,634 electric customers in the southwest part of the city at 4:18 p.m.

An outage affecting more than 900 people was reported in a neighborhood west of Scott Boulevard, while multiple outages were reported along Fairview Avenue.

Utilities spokesman Jason West told ABC 17 News in an email that the cause has not been determined yet, but “There is an issue at one of the substations that crews are working on at the moment. “

Columbia Water and Light confirmed on its social media that there is an issue with a transformer at the Perche Creek substation.

There is no estimated time for when power will be restored.
