New Year’s holiday will impact trash pickup in Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, Boonville

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

State and city offices will be closed on New Year’s Day, and services like trash pickup will be impacted.

Trash pickup will not occur on Wednesday for the holiday in several area cities, including Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton and Boonville. All trash pickup for the rest of the week will be delayed by one day after the holiday in Columbia, Jefferson City and Boonville, according to information from each city’s website. Wednesday’s pickup will occur on Thursday in Fulton, according to its solid waste schedule.

Public transportation will also be impacted in Columbia and Jefferson City. Bus routes for GO COMO and JEFFTRAN, each cities respective bus service, will not run on New Year’s Day and will resume the following day. Metered parking for streets and parking garages will not be enforced.

Additionally, the City of Columbia wrote in press release last week that the Activity and Recreation Center will close at 3 p.m. Tuesday, will be closed all of Wednesday and will reopen on Thursday. Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will be closed Wednesday and will reopen with normal hours on Thursday.

Similar changes occurred during the week of Christmas.
