COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A portion of East Walnut Street in Downtown Columbia will close next week for utility work, according to a Friday press release from the city.

The release says that beginning 7 a.m. Monday, contractors will install gas service for a new building at 1104 East Walnut St. Crews will remove and replace a portion of the eastbound lane, but both lanes will be closed between Short Street and Orr Street, the release.

The project is expected to be completed 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, the release says.

Detour and road closures will be posted. The sidewalk on the north side of the street will be open, the release says.
