Inmate pronounced dead at Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center after 10 days
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
An inmate died at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center on Monday after being in custody after just 10 days, according to information from the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Nathaniel Cross, 40, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m. Monday, a Tuesday press release from the DOC says. The release says he was serving a 12-year sentence for drug-related charges in Cole County.
He was received by the DOC on Nov. 15. Casenet shows that a warrant was served to Cross for Boone County drug charges on the same day.
Previous reporting indicates that he was charged last year with delivery of a controlled substance in connection to a 2021 overdose death. Three other people were charged with second-degree murder.
This is the second death at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center since Saturday. A Monday press release from the DOC says that Clinton Barnes, 48, was pronounced dead at 9:24 a.m. Saturday.
Clinton was serving a 120-day treatment for unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of drug possession from Shannon County, the release says. He had been in DOC custody since Oct. 29, according to the release.
An autopsy will be performed on both men. Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center.
