Boone County deputy involved in 2023 crash sued in personal injury case
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Boone County sheriff’s deputy and the county were sued on Thursday in a personal injury lawsuit.
Court documents say Zackery Brink filed a petition against Deputy Adam Sharp and the county for damages from a June 30, 2023, crash. Brink says in court documents that he was a passenger in a 2002 Buick that was struck by Sharp’s patrol vehicle.
Court documents allege that Sharp’s vehicle entered a roundabout on Clark Lane and hit the Buick. Brink is suing for damages, including medical expenses from injuries to his head, neck, back and shoulders, the petition says. Court documents say Brink has incurred $39,000 in medical expenses and will need surgery because of his injuries.
Brink accuses Sharp and the county of two counts of negligence, and the county is accused of vicarious liability. A summons was issued Thursday for Sharp and Boone County.
Brian Leer, of the Boone County Sheriff's, Office said the department does not comment on pending litigation.
