COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services is asking for community input to fill out an assessment on the county’s “food system,” a Monday press release says.

The survey -- which can be found online – consists of 25 questions and takes about 10-20 minutes to complete, the release says. The name of the project is Our Food Boone County, which the release says is a collaborative project between several partner organizations that will assess how food is produced, purchased, accessed and consumed.

The assessment is funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health and will span several years, the release says. The survey launched on Monday is part of a series of surveys, with some being specialized for farmers, ranchers, retailers, business owners and store managers.

Some questions include:

  • In thepast 12 months, how often did the food you bought just didn't last and you didn't have the money to get more?
  • In the past 12 months, how often were you unable to afford to eat balanced meals?
  • In the past 12 months, did you or other adults in your household ever cut the size of your meals or skip meals because there wasn't enough money for food?
  • In the last 12 months, were you ever hungry but didn't eat because there wasn't enough money for food?
