Columbia Parks and Recreation cancels Heritage festival due to potential storms
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The 46th annual Heritage Festival and Craft Show in Columbia on Sunday is canceled, Columbia Parks and Recreation said Saturday.
According to a press release from the city, the festival was canceled due to "multiple weather forecasts showing a strong chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain."
Sunday was set to be the second and final day of the festival.
"These are always difficult decisions to make, but safety is our first priority, the release states. "In addition to attendees, we also have to consider the number of artisans, entertainers, vendors and crafters displaying and selling their products that would be damaged in poor weather conditions."
