No one in custody after police respond to shooting in west Columbia Monday night

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No one is in custody after police responded to a shots fired call on the 1000 block of Claudell Lane on Monday night.

Columbia police were on scene through Tuesday morning until all units left around 5:30 a.m.

According to a press release from the Columbia Police Department, at around 10:50 p.m. Monday, the department responded to the 1000 block of Claudell Ln. for reports of shots fired.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene. There was also damage to buildings and cars caused by gunfire, according to the release.

According to the department, no victims were found by police.

Police on scene told ABC 17 News crews no injuries were reported but property damage was found.

More than a dozen officers responded to Columbia Square Townhomes in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane at 10:47 p.m. Several officers at the scene had shields drawn.

Police brought the BearCat armored vehicle to the scene just before 11:30 p.m., according to an ABC 17 News photographer on the scene.

Around 4 a.m., an officer on scene told an ABC 17 News reporter an unknown group of people were detained but were later released.

Police were seen searching the apartment and looking for further property damage before leaving the scene.

ABC 17 News spoke with a neighbor who said she heard what sounded like 100 rounds being fired from different types of guns while she was taking cover on the floor of her apartment.
