Heather Ridge Apartments finishes repairs on water line to resolve water issues
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Management at Heather Ridge Apartments reports that repairs to the complex's water line are complete and water should be restored to affected residents.
Residents in three buildings of Heather Ridge Apartments tell ABC 17 they had no drinkable water since June 30.
A tenant, who wishes to stay anonymous out of fear of retaliation, told ABC 17 News in an email on July 2 that they woke up to no running water on the morning of June 30. The City of Columbia said that was due to a water line issue on the property.
Earlier this week, residents told ABC 17 News that on July 5, gray water was turned on, meaning there was water available for some services, but it wasn't drinkable. However, a tenant contacted ABC 17 News on Wednesday evening that said residents were without water once again.
An email that was sent to tenants on Tuesday explained to residents that a vendor would be on the property to make permanent repairs to the water line on Wednesday. Apartment management said the repairs would be complete by mid-day or early afternoon that day.
An employee who wished to remain anonymous said on Thursday morning that repairs were still not complete. Property manager Melissa Bryson said the water should be turned back on by 6 p.m.
The employee said the vendor was on the property Wednesday for the repairs, but the complex is replacing the entire water line so it is taking longer than expected.
They said the repairs should now be complete by the end of the day Thursday. However the employee said that per a City of Columbia ordinance, the three affected buildings will be under a boil advisory for 24 hours until water has a chance to filter through the new water line.
Residents were also warned of a boil advisory in a July 5 email.
Residents have also dealt with flooding issues over the past two weeks. The employee stated the flooding was a result of the amount of rain that has fallen and was not from water main issues.
