COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Pavement repairs that were supposed to start last week on Providence Road in Columbia will now begin on Monday, according to a Wednesday press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Roadwork was originally supposed to start on April 25, but were delayed to this week before getting pushed back again to Monday, May 6. One lane of Providence Road will be closed from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday-Friday for about 10 days, according to the release.

At their December 2023 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded Capital Paving & Construction, LLC (Capital) a $5,506,594.12 contract to resurface 5.33 miles of Providence Road from Route K/Old Plank Road to Interstate 70.

Following the pavement repair, crews plan to work on the concrete traffic barrier and guardrail before resurfacing begins in June, the release says. A right turn lane will be added at the intersection of northbound Providence Road and Veterans United Drive. The project is expected to continue through August, the release says.
