COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Chris Jones will be the next Chief Operating Officer of Boone Health, according to a Thursday press release.

Jones’ first day will be Monday, April 29, the release says. He is replacing Monica Smith, who left Boone Health on March 1 to take a job in the St. Louis area.

The release states that Jones has 35 years of health care experience and began his career in the US Army Reserves as an orthopedic technician. He has 20 years of experience in hospital leadership roles, the release states. Most recently, Jones was the COO and interim CEO at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma, the release states.

Jones is originally from Mid-Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor of health science degree in radiology/computed tomography, and has an MBA and MHA from William Woods University, the release says. He was also the CEO at Moberly Regional Medical Center for four years, according to the release. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The release says Jones will be relocating to Columbia with his family.

“I am excited to come home,” Jones said in the release. “Having been born and raised in the Columbia area, I am very familiar with Boone Health and its outstanding reputation for quality care. I look forward to joining the team and lending my experience and leadership to the hospital’s operations.”
