‘Police incident’ snarls Interstate 70 traffic on edge of Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An unidentified "police incident" slowed down traffic on Interstate 70 on Columbia's eastern edge Wednesday.

Boone County emergency dispatchers sent out a public alert before 1 p.m. about the police incident but gave no other details. Police and firefighters were seen with a Target truck east of the St. Charles Road exit of Interstate 70.

The Missouri Department of Transportation posted on social media that the lane closure could last several hours.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw a white tarp in the median, as well as a blue tarp with markers around it.

The road reopened fully at about 3:15 p.m.

No other details were immediately available.
