City of Columbia to resume utility disconnects
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The City of Columbia Utilities department will soon resume utility disconnections as the weather warms up, according to a Monday press release.
Utility customers who have past-due balances will need to pay their balance to avoid having their utilities shut off, the statement says. Department spokesman Matt Nestor told ABC 17 News that a specific date has not been determined.
City of Columbia Utilities does not disconnect electric customers when the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures to drop below 32 degrees during a 24-hour period, the statement says.
