Naloxone education and distribution event to be held Tuesday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A naloxone education and distribution event will be held noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services building on West Worley Street, according to a Monday press release.
PHHS staff will also provide a brief training session for walk-ins from 1-1:30 p.m., the release states. No registration is required and participants will get a free box of NARCAN, the release states.
The event is part of a monthly series of that features education and training on the use of Naloxone -- also known by the brand name NARCAN -- a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The training will include recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose as well as an explanation of how to use and access NARCAN nasal spray, according to the release and previous reporting.Â
