Roll cart delivery in Columbia to begin Monday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia trash customers could begin receiving their roll carts as early as Monday, according to a Friday press release from the city.
Back in March 2023 the city decided to switch its refuse pickup to an automated system that involves roll carts. The new collection system will not begin until March 4, the release states.
According to the release, distribution will start with customers who receive collection service on Mondays. Once Monday customer routes have been completed, crews will then proceed to customers who receive collection service on Tuesdays, etc. the release states.
The release states the city expects this roll out to take four weeks. Customers can view delivery schedule updates with the city’s trash and recycling smartphone application, the release states. Updates will also be posted to its Facebook page.
There are three roll cart sizes residents chose from: A 35-gallon cart costing $12.87 per month, a 65-gallon can costing $17.37 per month (current rate used by City customers), and it will cost $22.50 per month for a 95 gallon can.
The release states the carts are city property and can not be altered or decorated in any way. Carts are assigned to a specific address and will have barcodes so that a missing or stolen cart can be brought back to its assigned location, the release states.
