Firefighters were able to save a cat's life at a house fire Sunday afternoon.

Columbia Fire Department responded to the 1500 block of Citadel Drive around 2 p.m. Sunday for a house fire. According to dispatch records, this was the 12th structure fire in Boone County this week.

Firefighters said the fire was coming from the master bedroom. A cat was resuscitated on scene, but no people were hurt.

Smoke damage from the second floor window.

Cpt. Ryan Adams with Columbia Fire said the cause of the fire likely won't be clear for at least a day.

"It looks like we're able to keep the  fire damage to the room of origin, which was a bedroom on the second floor.," Adams said. "We did remove one cat  that was then resuscitated and is back with the homeowners currently."
