Dogmaster Distillery to close Feb. 29
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Dogmaster Distillery wrote on its Facebook page on Monday night that it will close at the end of February.
The Columbia business was founded in 2014, according to its website. ABC 17 News reached out to founder Van Hawxby on Monday night. Hawxby said they had nothing to add that wasn't already in the post.
According to the post, the business’ last day will be Thursday, Feb. 29. A Facebook event page says Dogmaster Distillery will be open from 4-10 p.m. that day.
“We tried to support groups and causes that work to make our community better for everyone, and we were constantly impressed and humbled by your cooperation with these efforts,” the post reads. “The definition of a DogMaster is someone who follows the beat of their own drum. Although it's time for a new song for us, we will always keep all of our fellow DogMasters in our hearts.”
The distillery had produced hand sanitizer for the Columbia/Boone County Health Department, City of Columbia and Columbia Police Department at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to previous reporting.
