Multiple water main breaks reported in Columbia

Additional boil advisories were issued around Columbia on Tuesday after three water main breaks were reported.

According to an email from City Utilities spokesman Matt Nestor, crews were repairing a water main leak at 7 a.m. on Broadway Village Drive and ended up with an outage that affected 182 people. The break was announced at 8:30 a.m., according to Nestor.

In addition, there was also a break at Deer Run Drive that affected 15 customers and another on Dalcross Drive at 10 a.m. that affected 14 people.

Nestor said the three breaks were not related.

A boil advisory issued at 1 p.m. Monday -- affecting 47 customers – is still in effect and Nestor expects the advisory to expire later on Tuesday.

A total of 252 Columbia Water and Light customers were affected by the four outages.
