Daniel Boone Regional Library rejects union contract

The Daniel Boone Regional Library Workers United held a protest on Tuesday as they negotiate a contract ahead of a bargaining session, according to a press release.

The union posted on its Facebook page that its proposal was rejected by Daniel Boone Regional Library..

"A total of eight minutes passed between when we sent the 11-page proposal and when we received an email from our executive director stating they would not even consider or meet with us over it, a message apparently sent from the parking lot as she was on her way to dinner plans," the post reads.

The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Local 3311 said in a release before the negotiations that it is working to improves wages and benefits for workers.

On Monday, DBRL spokesperson Mitzi St. John said in an email that the library hopes to reach a deal by the end of the year, but a completion date was not set.

A rally for workers was held at 8:45 a.m. outside of the north doors on the plaza of the Daniel Boone Regional Library.

ABC 17 News has reached out to Daniel Boone Library for comment.
